PHOTOSHOOT OUTFITS IDEAS FOR A STYLISH LOOK!

I know a lot of effort goes into getting ready for a family photo session. “What should we wear?” is one of the most common questions that I get asked. A little bit of thought and planning beforehand will not only take away any photoshoot day stress, but will really make your photos sing! Keep in mind that these are photos you are going to hang on your walls and cherish for years to come.

Kindly please note that these are just my opinions, and things I’ve learned over the years that you might find helpful.

You are more than welcome to ignore the suggestions if you like the opposite!

What to...

  1. Color coordinate... The best way to show off each family member’s unique personality is to color coordinate and to let them wear what they will feel comfortable in. I would recommend that you consider to wear muted colors and earth tones which tend to look better on camera and are more flattering for skin tones. Of course we don’t want the attention drawn to some bright piece of neon clothing.
  2. Comfort is the key... Wear comfortable shoes. Our session will be busy, we will be on the move. Wear clothes that fit properly. Also try to wear a shirt with sleeves (not a tank top).
  3. Wear that speaks to you...what you feel good in and what makes you comfortable. After all this is YOUR photoshoot, have fun with it!

What not to....

  1. Patterns... Don’t wear a pattern that’s too big, it overwhelms the subject. Try to prevent wearing clothing with small stripes on, as it tend to have a confusing look.
  2. Plan the socks.... Do not wear bright neon socks, if your colors are pastel or earthy tones, the socks are going to stick out like a sore thumb. Also try to wear fairly new socks - you know the ones without the small holes in... :)
  3. Say No to everybody wear white shirts and blue jeans vibe...DON'T do it... I know it was a huge thing for a while to wear matching outfits/patterns or colors. Be a creative soul!
